Baseball Recap: Pershing County Takes a Loss

Pershing County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oasis Academy Bighorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bighorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 last Wednesday.

Ayden Montes was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Pershing County: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-10 otherwise. Michael Reitz was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Pershing County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Oasis Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bighorns beat Pershing County by a score of 6-5 later that day.
