With a playoff game on the line, Bluefield rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged the South Harrison Hawks out 20-18.
Despite the defeat, South Harrison saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaden Hatfield rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Hatfield's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards. Shepard Paugh was in the mix too, providing South Harrison with a touchdown.
The win got Bluefield back to even at 5-5. As for South Harrison, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Bluefield has already played their next matchup, a 27-6 defeat against Frankfort on the 30th. South Harrison does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
