Football Recap: Diego Madrid's Menacing Defense Leads Menlo-Atherton over Wilcox

Menlo-Atherton's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Wilcox Chargers by a score of 14-7. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 10-7 win the Chargers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Teddy Dacey looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 240 yards and one TD, while also rushing for 58 yards. Those 58 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Menlo-Atherton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Diego Madrid.

Menlo-Atherton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for Wilcox, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Menlo-Atherton and Wilcox are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bears will be playing at home against Stevenson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' defense has only allowed 12.9 points per game this season, so Menlo-Atherton's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Wilcox, they will face off against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
