Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Bluff Tigers vs. Weaver Bearcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Cedar Bluff Tigers duke it out with Weaver Bearcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cedar Bluff took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Gaston as Cedar Bluff made off with a 9-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tigers have posted against the Bulldogs since April 11, 2019.

Hunter Stallings made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run.

In other pitching news, Hunter Mobbs looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Kuper Bradley, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Bryson Teague, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Weaver and Saks had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Weaver never let Saks get on the board and left with a 26-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bearcats in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Weaver pushed their record up to 5-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Bluff, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Cedar Bluff beat Weaver 7-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Does Cedar Bluff have another victory up their sleeve, or will Weaver turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
