Softball Recap: Coastal Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Coastal Academy extended their winning streak to seven on Friday, bumping their season record up to 15-4 in the process. They had just enough and edged out the Bishop's Knights 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-3 back in April.

Therese Frazer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Alvarez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Bishop's, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8-1 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Bishop's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Sydney Mafong gave up only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits. Mafong has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coastal Academy will welcome Francis Parker at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Stingrays are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Bishop's, they will host Foothills Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
