Baseball Game Preview: Westfall Mustangs vs. Piketon Redstreaks

The Westfall Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Piketon Redstreaks at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Westfall is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Westfall didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Paint Valley by a score of 4-0 on Wednesday. Four seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Cash Conrad was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Conrad was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaden Towler, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Brenden Tuttle was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Westfall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Piketon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Eastern 20-3 on Thursday. The match marked the Redstreaks' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Piketon's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.7 runs this season. As for Westfall, their record now sits at 5-0.

Westfall took their win against Piketon in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-8 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Redstreaks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
