Baseball Recap: Southwest Takes a Loss

Monday just wasn't the day for Southwest's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miami Springs Golden Hawks on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Golden Hawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Kaleb Hernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Miami Springs, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2.

Southwest and Miami Springs should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Southwest will face off against Brito at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 146 places (128 vs. 274). Meanwhile, Miami Springs (ranked 43rd) will meet Hialeah Educational Academy (ranked 321st) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
