Basketball Recap: Solon Extends Winning Streak to Three

Solon won the last time they faced Berea-Midpark and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Solon Comets skirted past the Berea-Midpark Titans 67-65. The victory almost wasn't to be: the Comets were down 37-21 in the second quarter.

Despite the defeat, Berea-Midpark saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nick Reece went 9 for 20 on his way to 23 points and five boards. The matchup was Reece's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Tyson Clay was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

The win (which was Solon's third in a row) raised their record to 8-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Berea-Midpark, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Solon will challenge Hudson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Solon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
