Basketball Game Preview: Fort Dale Academy Eagles vs. Sparta Academy Warriors

Fort Dale Academy hasn't had much luck against Sparta Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fort Dale Academy Eagles will head out to square off against the Sparta Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Friday, Fort Dale Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to Evangel Christian Academy.

Meanwhile, Sparta Academy ended up a good deal behind Jackson Academy on Tuesday and lost 44-29. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Fort Dale Academy will need focus on slowing down Kaitlyn Johnson, one of several Sparta Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 boards. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Krisalyn Johnson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Sparta Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Fort Dale Academy now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Sparta Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-10.

Fort Dale Academy came up short against Sparta Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 47-40. Can Fort Dale Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
