Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

Centennial lost against Central back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of the Cobras by a score of 5-4.

Michael DiDonato was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Centennial is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Marcos Bencosme made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Chris Muscerella, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 10-8-1. As for Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7-1.

Coming up, Centennial will square off against Dwyer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central, they will take on Westwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.87 runs per game on average), something the Cobras will no doubt try to take advantage of.
