Hoisington piles up the points against Victoria

Recap: Hoisington Cardinals vs. Victoria Knights

The Hoisington Cardinals posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Victoria 65-22 at home. Given Hoisington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Victoria is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoisington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mallory Mooney, who scored 14 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mooney has scored all season. Kylee Hahn was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and four steals.

Victoria's loss came despite strong showings from Averi Windholz and Emma Dinkel. Windholz scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, while Dinkel scored five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Windholz hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennidy Amrein, who scored a point along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Victoria smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Hoisington's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Victoria, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Hoisington will stay at home for another game and welcome Ellsworth on January 19th. Ellsworth has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Victoria will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against LaCrosse at 6:30 p.m. on January 18th.
