Baseball Recap: Timpview Comes Up Short

Timpview had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-15 to make it seven. They lost 9-3 to the Springville Red Devils. The Thunderbirds were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Elliot Myers made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. Ty Wester was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Springville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

On Springville's side, they got a great performance from Zander Oakey as he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Oakey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reid Deede, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Springville's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is undefeated (and 8-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Tingey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Timpview had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
