Baseball Recap: Summit Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Summit extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 7-7 in the process. They skirted past the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders 7-5. That's two games straight that the Hilltoppers have won by exactly two runs.

Summit's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Cohen, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Shane Walsh, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Summit hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scotch Plains-Fanwood struck out nine times.

As for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since May 7, 2024.

On Scotch Plains-Fanwood's side, Alex Tabares was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Tabares has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Leo Nardi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
