Soccer Game Preview: Kailua vs. Kahuku

The Kailua Surfriders will venture away from home to challenge the Kahuku Red Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Kailua's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three contests.

Last Saturday, Kailua ended the year with a bang, routing Kalaheo 6-1. The Surfriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Kahuku faced Kalani in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Kahuku came up short against Kalani, falling 5-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost three in a row.

Kailua has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those five contests. As for Kahuku, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Everything went Kailua's way against Kahuku in their previous matchup back in January, as Kailua made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kailua since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
