Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Mountaineers vs. Owen Warhorses

Mitchell and Owen are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Mountaineers will challenge the Warhorses at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Mitchell managed to slip by Mountain Heritage the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mountaineers came up short against the Cougars on Friday, falling 14-8. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Jacoby Dale made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Mitchell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaxon Rohr, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, Owen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 11-3 to Draughn.

Mitchell now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Owen, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Mitchell came out on top in a nail-biter against Owen when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Mountaineers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warhorses turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
