Football Game Preview: West Jefferson Roughriders vs. Fairbanks Panthers

The West Jefferson Roughriders will head out on the road to square off against the Fairbanks Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 37.8 points per game this season.

On Friday, West Jefferson was able to grind out a solid victory over West Liberty-Salem, taking the game 20-7.

West Jefferson relied on the efforts of Austin Buescher, who threw for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Wade Reeve, who gained 106 total yards and a touchdown. What's more, Reeve racked up 40 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August.

West Jefferson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jeremy Jester.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Fairbanks brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Triad 64-12. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Fairbanks picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-6. As for West Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

West Jefferson took a serious blow against Fairbanks in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 69-35. Can the Roughriders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
