Saint Francis faced Whitney in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Lancers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Lancers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Saint Francis got a great performance from Mercedes Coller as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Coller has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Peyton Tsao was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaime Oakland, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Saint Francis, bringing their record up to 16-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Whitney, they moved to 14-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Saint Francis will face off against Archbishop Mitty at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Monarchs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Lancers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Whitney, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Davis Sr. at 5:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The last four games the Blue Devils have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
