Volleyball Game Preview: Vista PEAK Prep Bison vs. Rampart Rams

After both having extra time off, the Vista PEAK Prep Bison and the Rampart Rams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Vista PEAK Prep picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Thomas Jefferson. The Bison haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Vista PEAK Prep can attribute much of their success to Yasir Dickey, who had 32 digs and one assist. Those 32 digs gave Dickey a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Rampart faced Windsor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rams came out on top against the Wizards by a score of 3-1.

Rampart's win came from a few key players Vista PEAK Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Gabriella Melecio, who had 21 digs. She has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last nine times she's played. Ariana Clarose was another key player, getting 12 digs and two aces.

Vista PEAK Prep's record now sits at 16-7. As for Rampart, their record is now 21-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Vista PEAK Prep has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Rampart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Vista PEAK Prep suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Rampart when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
