Basketball Recap: Pius X Comes Up Short

After flying high against Waverly last Thursday, Pius X came back down to earth. The Pius X Thunderbolts took a blow against the Norris Titans on Friday, falling 76-33. The match marked the Thunderbolts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pius X's loss came despite strong showings from Michael Haith and Parker Kelly. Haith posted 12 points and five rebounds, while Kelly had 11 points and six boards. Kelly is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last six games he's played. Sawyer Sand also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Norris found their leader in sophomore Evan Greenfield, who shot 86% from the field en route to 16 points along with seven boards and five assists. Barret Boesiger was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Pius X's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Norris, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Pius X didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-37 victory against Crete on the 5th. As for Norris, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-57 win against Mount Michael Benedictine on the 3rd.
