Basketball Game Preview: Tahoka Bulldogs vs. New Home Leopards

Tahoka hasn't had much luck against New Home recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tahoka Bulldogs will host the New Home Leopards at 7:30 p.m.

Tahoka is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Floydada on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Tahoka took a blow against Floydada, falling 90-45. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-27.

Despite the loss, Tahoka got top-tier performance from Brogan Stone, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Watt, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Tahoka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, New Home came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Antelopes to the tune of 77-40. The Leopards have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

New Home has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Tahoka, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
