Mandarin posted their closest victory since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bishop Kenny Crusaders 9-8. Nine seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Dylan Colligan looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makarios Brown and CJ Murphy did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Murphy scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, Murphy posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Rusak, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Mandarin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Mandarin is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. Bishop Kenny dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Mandarin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 19-2 win against Riverside on the 14th. As for Bishop Kenny, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on the 18th.
