Basketball Recap: Southwest Wins Going Away Against Beach

Southwest had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 71-53 victory over the Beach Bulldogs on Saturday.

Southwest had a senior duo take command as Caron 'CJ' Howard went 10-for-14 to rack up 28 points and three steals and Chase Dupree shot 40% from the field en route to 23 points and six boards. The game was Howard's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Alex Butts was another key player, putting up nine points.

Beach's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Liddell, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamari Allen-Brown, who posted eight points and six boards.

Southwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-58 win against Howard on the 21st. As for Beach, they have also already played their next matchup, a 54-44 defeat against Savannah on the 21st.
