Mount Mercy Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Nichols, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Magic blew past the Vikings 12-6 on Tuesday. While the Magic didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Taylor Jahn made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Jahn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mount Mercy Academy let Riley Coughlin and Laila Golda run wild. Coughlin went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Golda went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and one double. With that strong performance, Golda is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie McOwen, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Mount Mercy Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Nardin Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bishop Kearney. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Gators were not able to get on the board.
Lidia Foglia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
Nardin Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Mount Mercy Academy, their record now sits at 5-1.
Nardin Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Mercy Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. It's a different story for Nardin Academy, though, as they've only averaged .330. Will they be able to contain Mount Mercy Academy's hitters?
