Softball Game Preview: Southern Alamance Patriots vs. Orange Panthers

The Southern Alamance Patriots will square off against the Orange Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southern Alamance has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Alamance is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Eastern Alamance.

Meanwhile, Orange posted their closest victory since April 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top against Western Alamance by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Allie Carden and Molly Kate Ollis did most of the damage at the plate: Carden went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Ollis went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most doubles Carden has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sadie Cecil, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Southern Alamance's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Orange, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Everything went Southern Alamance's way against Orange in their previous meeting back in March, as Southern Alamance made off with a 13-6 victory. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
