Softball Game Preview: Assumption Royals vs. Stratford Tigers

The Assumption Royals will challenge the Stratford Tigers at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Stratford will be up against a hot Assumption team: the squad just extended their winning streak to seven. Everything went the Royals' way against Athens on Friday as they made off with a 19-2 victory. The Royals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Stratford never let their opponents score on Saturday. They put the hurt on McDonell Central with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Assumption's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Stratford, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Assumption couldn't quite get it done against Stratford when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
