Preview: Parkdale Panthers vs. Flowers Jaguars
Parkdale has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Flowers Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Parkdale might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 65-51 to Bowie, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Parkdale in their matchups with Bowie: they've now lost eight in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mark Freeland, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Tavonte Martin, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Something new happened on Friday as Martin saw his first action of the season, playing 20 minutes against Bowie. Martin made the most of the opportunity, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Flowers' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Laurel by a score of 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Parkdale's defeat dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Flowers, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6.
Parkdale took a serious blow against Flowers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 75-39. Will Parkdale have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
