Game recap: Wiregrass Ranch High School Football Team takes down Ridgewood

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. - Wiregrass Ranch (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 37-14 win over Ridgewood (New Port Richey, Fla.).

The Bulls put up 17 points in the opening quarter. Wiregrass Ranch scored on a touchdown pass by Shane Bucenell to John Harris-Scott, a field goal and a passing touchdown.

After taking the lead on a touchdown in the first quarter, WR was up 20-0 at the half.

The Wesley Chapel school expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. The Bulls' lone score in the quarter came on a rushing touchdown.



Wiregrass Ranch came in allowing an average of 20.2 points per game this season. WR held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Rams above the 9.3 points it had been averaging per game.

The victory was a step in the right direction for the Wesley Chapel school, which was coming off a 34-14 defeat at the hands of Gaither in its previous game. The loss comes after Ridgewood defeated Wesley Chapel 30-27 last week. The win broke Wiregrass Ranch's three-game losing streak.
