Softball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Drops Season-High Score on Lorain

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph Academy). They blew past the Lorain Titans 24-9 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Amelia Reyes was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ailish Ruane, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

St. Joseph Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive contests.

St. Joseph Academy pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Lorain, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Academy will challenge Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Lorain, they will take on Clearview at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
