Soccer Game Preview: Cardinal Newman vs. Benjamin

Cardinal Newman is 0-8-2 against Benjamin since January of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Cardinal Newman Crusaders will square off against the Benjamin Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Benjamin will be up against a hot Cardinal Newman team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Cardinal Newman's defense stepped up to hand Treasure Coast a 3-0 shutout on Friday.

Lola Cannova and Jada Alexander scored all three of Cardinal Newman's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 35 goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Benjamin made sure to put some goals up on the board against West Boca Raton last Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 5-2 margin over the Bulls.

Cardinal Newman has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those six games. As for Benjamin, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5-3.

Cardinal Newman might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Benjamin when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can Cardinal Newman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
