Softball Recap: Bellflower Takes a Loss

Bellflower was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 12-1 to the Cerritos Dons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2021.

Bellflower saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Crystal Menchaca, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Valery Wilches also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Bellflower's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Cerritos, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellflower will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Ocean View at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bellflower has given up an average of 13.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Cerritos, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kennedy at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Cerritos is facing Kennedy at the right time seeing as Kennedy is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
