With a playoff win on the line, Vanden rose to the challenge on Saturday. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Rio Hondo Prep Kares 42-41. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings who have now won nine contests in a row.

It was another big night for Kalani Mcleod, who threw for 404 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. His passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 404 passing yards. Chris Clark was Mcleod's top target, picking up 128 receiving yards and one touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Rio Hondo Prep lost, don't look at Noah Penunuri. Despite the final result, he rushed for 232 yards and five touchdowns. With that strong performance, Penunuri is now averaging an impressive 2.1 rushing touchdowns per game.

Vanden's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Rio Hondo Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 13-2 record.
