The Fernandina Beach Pirates will take on the Baker County Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Baker County will be up against a hot Fernandina Beach squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Fernandina Beach put the hurt on First Coast with a sharp 11-1 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lincoln Pertkiewicz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Landen Holbrook was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalton Janey, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Baker County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Bradford on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Reese Taylor and Kaiden Burnsed did most of the damage at the plate: Taylor scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Burnsed scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Ryan Witherington was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Fernandina Beach's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Baker County, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fernandina Beach has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Baker County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
