Football Recap: Mt. Whitney Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Mt. Whitney unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the San Luis Obispo Tigers 31-0 on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Despite the loss, Mt. Whitney still got an impressive performance from Kayden Silvas, who rushed for 143 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.

Colbin Garrison had an outrageously good game for San Luis Obispo as he rushed for 87 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, and also caught one score. Andrew De La Motte made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Coming up, Mt. Whitney will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against Justin Garza at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Luis Obispo, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Mission Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
