Baseball Game Preview: Tippecanoe Red Devils vs. Troy Trojans

The Tippecanoe Red Devils will challenge the Troy Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tippecanoe's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Troy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Tippecanoe's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Butler hitters got past them. The Red Devils lost 11-5 to the Aviators on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Red Devils have suffered since May 23, 2024.

James Merry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Zumwalt, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Troy waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since March 21st.

The victory got Troy back to even at 7-7. As for Tippecanoe, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 18-1.

Tippecanoe came out on top in a nail-biter against Troy when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
