After a string of four wins, Reading Memorial's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Woburn Memorial Tanners by a score of 3-2. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tanners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Grady Ventura was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reading Memorial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Vitarisi, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Reading Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Woburn Memorial, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Reading Memorial will square off against Watertown at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Woburn Memorial, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Medford at 11:00 a.m. on May 17.
