Softball Recap: Raton Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Raton rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 28-16 margin over the Eunice Cardinals. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Raton got a massive performance out of Paige Lemons, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Lemons has posted since back in April. Jennifer Mattorano was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Raton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eunice only posted a batting average of .360.

Raton is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for Eunice, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-14.

Coming up, Raton will challenge Loving at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Eunice does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
