Football Game Preview: Hobart Brickies vs. Kankakee Valley Kougars

Hobart has gone a perfect 10-0 against Kankakee Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Brickies will head out on the road to challenge the Kougars at 7:00 p.m. Hobart will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Hobart is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat New Prairie 50-14. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-14.

Hobart relied on the efforts of Aleks Tatum, who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, and Max Pickett, who rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Pickett has posted since back in September of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hobart was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Prairie only rushed for 124.

Hobart didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Stephen Miller and Nathan Sobczynski. Hobart got some further help from Terry Earvin: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made nine total tackles.

Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Gary West Side on Friday, taking the game 15-6.

Hobart's record is now 8-2. As for Kankakee Valley, their record now sits at 2-8.

Everything came up roses for Hobart against Kankakee Valley in their previous matchup back in September, as the team secured a 40-7 victory. In that game, the Brickies amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
