Volleyball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Extends Winning Streak to Six

St. Anne-Pacelli had already won five in a row dating back to last season and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top against the Pike County Pirates by a score of 2-0. The Vikings were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Pirates, so the Vikings were just returning the favor.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: St. Anne-Pacelli took both sets by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-14.

St. Anne-Pacelli was led to victory by Allie Vickery and Mariah O'Brien. Vickery had nine digs and one assist, while O'Brien had four aces. Those nine digs gave Vickery a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: St. Anne-Pacelli was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

St. Anne-Pacelli's win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coincidentally, St. Anne-Pacelli and Pike County will both be playing Upson-Lee the next time they take the court. The Vikings will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Pirates will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
