Volleyball Recap: Provo Bulldogs vs. San Juan Broncos
Provo faced San Juan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Broncos by a score of 3-1. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Broncos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2019.
Provo was especially dominant in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, 25-14.
Meliana Chrisman paced Provo's offense, picking up 20 kills. Chrisman got some help from Violet Betham and her 38 assists. Chrisman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Despite the loss, San Juan still got an impressive performance from Averie Gilson, who had 22 digs and five assists. Gilson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.
Provo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season. As for San Juan, their loss ended an 11-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 24-3.
As of now, neither Provo nor the Broncos have any future games scheduled.
