Basketball Game Preview: Melrose Golden Wildcats vs. Power Center Academy Knights

Melrose and Power Center Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Melrose Golden Wildcats will welcome the Power Center Academy Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Melrose has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 10.

Melrose fought the good fight in their overtime game against Kirby on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Golden Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Cougars are ranked 123rd).

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Power Center Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Kirby, falling 68-48. The match marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Power Center Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Melrose ended up a good deal behind Power Center Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago, losing 76-61. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Power Center Academy's Michael Wynn, who went 10 of 12 en route to 24 points and five steals.
