Baseball Recap: Dothan Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dothan walked away with it. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Fairhope Pirates on Friday. The Wolves have beaten the Pirates the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Pirates has come to flipping the script.

Aaron Walker looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emmanuel Lewis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Perrin Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Dothan's win bumped their record up to 21-11. As for Fairhope, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 27-11.

Dothan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
