Softball Recap: Portage Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Portage's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They never let the Lake Mills L-Cats get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

The result came thanks to Ally Saloun's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Portage saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney Popp, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Portage is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Lake Mills, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Looking ahead, Portage will face off against Lodi at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Mills, they will challenge Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
