Softball Game Preview: Belleville West Maroons vs. O'Fallon Panthers

The Belleville West Maroons will head out to face off against the O'Fallon Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Belleville West will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Belleville West had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Calhoun on Saturday. The Maroons put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 16-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Maroons considering their two-run performance the game before.

Kara Kramer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Makenna Anderson was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Abby Hilpert also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Belleville West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, O'Fallon came up short against Triad on Saturday and fell 5-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

O'Fallon's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Belleville West, their record now sits at 15-11.

Belleville West came out on top in a nail-biter against O'Fallon when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Maroons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
