Basketball Game Preview: Forest Hills Rangers vs. Central Cambria Red Devils

Forest Hills and Central Cambria are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Forest Hills Rangers are taking a road trip to take on the Central Cambria Red Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Forest Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Central Cambria likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Forest Hills took their matchup with ease, bagging an 83-35 victory over Philipsburg-Osceola. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 547th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Central Cambria entered their tilt with Bellwood-Antis on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They skirted past the Blue Devils 41-38. The 41-point effort marked the Red Devils' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Central Cambria is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Forest Hills, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Everything came up roses for Forest Hills against Central Cambria in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 76-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Forest Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
