Softball Recap: Rio Vista Eagles vs. Everman Bulldogs
Rio Vista had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Everman Bulldogs as the Rio Vista Eagles made off with a 21-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Kailee Dyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dyer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Rio Vista got a massive performance out of Alyssa Swindle, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ayden Greenslade, who scored four runs and stole one base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Everman is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Vista will take on Castleberry at 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Everman, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge South Hills at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th.
