Preview: Freeport Falcons vs. Yarmouth Clippers
The Freeport Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Yarmouth Clippers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Freeport had already won four in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They secured a 58-53 W over Wells.
Meanwhile, Yarmouth's 16-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 78-67 to Oceanside on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Yarmouth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Oceanside is ranked second).
Freeport's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Yarmouth, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Freeport came up short against Yarmouth in their previous meeting back in January, falling 45-39. Can Freeport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
