Softball Recap: Williston Wins High-Profile Game Against Jamestown

Williston faced Jamestown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Coyotes' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bluejays a 1-0 shutout. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Coyotes have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Alana Thomas, who gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Jamestown off the board. Thomas has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Williston pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williston will welcome Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jamestown, they will host West Fargo at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
