Baseball Recap: Owen Takes a Loss

After flying high against Rosman on Thursday, Owen came back down to earth. The Warhorses took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison Patriots on Tuesday. If the Warhorses were looking for revenge after losing 15-8 to the Patriots when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jackson Warnock and Gabe Mahar stepped up to the plate in a big way. Warnock went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Mahar went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Warnock is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Hayden Burpeau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Owen's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Madison, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season.

While Owen had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
