Football Recap: Crooms Academy Takes a Loss

Crooms Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 28-0 loss at the hands of the Orangewood Christian Rams. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Rams are ranked 161st).

Orangewood Christian can attribute much of their success to Avery McDonald, who rushed for 39 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, McDonald racked up 83 passing yards, the most she's had since back in February. Paige McClarnon got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Crooms Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Orangewood Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crooms Academy will challenge Lake Howell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Silverhawks' defense has only allowed 7.1 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Orangewood Christian, they will head out to square off against Holy Cross Lutheran Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
