Basketball Recap: Waverly Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Waverly won the last time they faced Sexton and things went their way on Saturday too. The Waverly Warriors came out on top against the Sexton Big Reds by a score of 81-74. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Big Reds are ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waverly pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for Sexton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
